7 Things You Should NOT Have in Your Video
Marc
Printer-Friendly Format

Videos, some people love them, some people hate them. No matter how you feel about video, you should still use this powerful tool to market your site. So, while you are out there creating tons of videos, remember these 5 things you better NOT put in yours.

1. Taking away the video controls - Please, don't take away the video controls from your videos. Having them there allows viewers to pause, not only to watch at their leisure, but to also write down the name of a website, your contact information, tips that you just gave, etc. Give people control and they will feel better even if they don't use it.

2. Overhype yourself - Don't go crazy telling people how many cars you own or the size of your mansion. People might see that as fake, even if you really do genuinely have all of those things.

3. Make the video longer than 2 and a half minutes - Sure, Youtube allows you up to ten minutes per video, but that doesn't mean you have to use all of it. Youtube has found that people begin to click away from the video a lot after the 2 and a half minute mark. Stay under that and you are fine.

4. Be a fake robot - Personality can make sales. Be yourself; don't try to act like somebody else, it will show through. And while we are on the conversation of personality, make sure you have some in your voice. Be excited, you're talking to potential customers.

5. Forget the content - Whatever you do, don't forget to help your viewer out with the problem they are having. All you need is just one tip to help them out; spoken in a clear, personable voice, that will gain you credibility in your field.

6. Quality of production - Okay, you don't have to make your video look like the next greatest thing in video. But please, let's not have papers thrown all over the place, crooked pictures, dirty clothes, etc. all over the place. Your space will say a lot about you, make sure it's selling the personality you want it to.

7. Have bad audio - Believe it or not, audio is more important than the actual image is when it comes to video production. Since content is still king, hearing your message is way more important than what's on the screen. If you have to choose between the two, always pick audio as what you want to record.
